Bagan Umno division chief Datuk Dr Shaik Hussein Mydin, who was detained over comments made on the Low Yat brawl, has been released on police bail.

Inspector-General of Police Secretariat assistant head (Corporate Communications) Asst Comm Datin Asmawati Ahmad confirmed that Shaik Hussein was released at around 4.30pm, Thursday.

He was arrested on Wednesday, minutes before a scheduled press conference outside the police headquarters in Bukit Mertajam.

It is believed that Shaikh Hussein had posted messages criticising Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar in a Telegram messaging group.

ACP Asmawati said blogger Papagomo, whose real name is Wan Mohd Azri Wan Deris, will be held in police custody until Friday.

He was arrested by officers at his home on Tuesday night under the Sedition Act in connection with Sunday's incident outside Low Yat Plaza.
