PETALING JAYA - A 19-year-old youth's hand was crushed by a plate printing machine in a freak accident on Wednesday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Mohd Sani Harul said the victim, identified as Muhammad Hafiz Muhamad Azhar, was operating the machine prior to the 5.10pm incident in Kepong.

"We used a hydraulic ram to widen the gap in order to remove the hand from the machine.

"The victim suffered broken bones on his right hand," he said.

Mohd Sani said the victim, who works as a factory worker there, had been sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
