Malaysia helicopter crash: Body of Jamaluddin Jarjis released

KUALA LUMPUR - The body of Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis was released by the Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) mortuary at 11.35am on Sunday before funeral prayers.

Dressed in a brown-coloured Baju Melayu and a songkok, Jamaluddin's son, Ikhwan Hafiz Jamaluddin, remained calm and composed while addressing the media outside the mortuary.

He told reporters that the body of his late father would be released from HKL mortuary, and would proceed to Masjid Darul Ehsan in Taman Tun Abdul Razak, Ampang Jaya.

"Hospital officials have officially identified the body of my father.

"We (family) will proceed to Masjid Taman TAR for sembahyang jenazah (funeral prayers) and thereafter to our home in Mines.

"InsyaAllah (God willing), my father will be laid to rest at the Heroes Mausoleum in Masjid Negara," he said.

Also present were Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim.

Noor Rashid told reporters that he was at the mortuary to assist in managing the bodies of the six victims who died in the helicopter crash in Semenyih on Saturday.
