Malaysia PM Najib to state BN's stance on hudud soon

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to announce Barisan Nasional's stand on hudud today or tomorrow.

Barisan secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who disclosed this, said hudud must be in line with the Federal Constitution.

"That is why we had a special meeting with all component party heads to get their views.

"Our view is simple. All of us agree that hudud must be in line with the Federal Constitution," Tengku Adnan said after attending an event at the Suria Community Centre here yesterday.

Asked whether Barisan was against the implementation of hudud, he said the coalition was not against it.

Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob tabled the Syariah Criminal Code (II)(1993) (Amendment 2015) on Thursday to enable the implementation of PAS' hudud law in Kelantan.

The Bill was unanimously passed the next day.

Najib, who is Barisan chairman, had met with Barisan Nasional component party leaders in Parliament on Thursday to discuss the hudud issue.
