Malaysian cop dies after shooting himself

JOHOR BARU - A police officer with the Seri Alam police district headquarters' criminal investigation department shot himself dead at the Bandar Putra Kulai urban jungle.

The incident took place on Friday at around 6.15pm when the 32-year-old police officer contacted the Kulaijaya police district headquarters informing them that he wanted to shoot himself.

Police immediately rushed to the scene.

When they arrived at the scene a few minutes later, the police officer was already dead.

It is learnt that the officer who originated from Kuala Lumpur had been in the police force for 15 years.

He had served at the Segamat and Nusajaya police district headquarters and the Johor police contingent headquarters.

The body had been sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for postmortem. Police cannot be reached for comment.
