Malaysian cops pictured sleeping on the job at station transferred
Caught napping: The picture of two cops sleeping at a police beat base in Mak Mandin, Butterworth, which went viral on the social media.

GEORGE TOWN - Two police personnel who were found sleeping on their job at a police beat in Mak Mandin, Butterworth, have been transferred to the North Seberang Perai district police headquarters.

Penang police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Abdul Rahim Hanafi said he had ordered them to be transferred within 24 hours.

"The disciplinary board is investiga­ting the matter. The two personnel will be transferred there while we await the next course of action.

"I view this matter seriously and stern action will be taken," he said in a statement yesterday.

A photo of two police personnel sleeping at the reception counter went viral on social media after it was uploaded on Facebook on Tuesday.

The duo, believed to be police constables, were seen taking a snooze on their seats.

It could not be ascertained when the photograph was taken.
