BUKIT MERTAJAM - Although over a century old, Othman Daud is still excited about the upcoming Permatang Pauh by-election.

The 103-year-old farmer, who is probably the oldest voter in the parliamentary constituency, said age is no barrier for people to vote.

"Everyone should go out to vote. We must help decide who is the best candidate to look after this area.

"I'm glad that I'm still strong and can decide on this. I have voted in all the past general elections and the previous by-election," Othman said when met at his house in Kampung Tanah Liat here yesterday.

His house was one of many visited by Puteri Umno members led by its assistant secretary Fahariyad Md Nordin under the wing's programme.

He said the elections in the past were very much different compared to now but did not elaborate.

"For now, I really wish for a candidate who can bring development to the town and look after the welfare of the people," he said.

Asked on his secret to good health and longevity, Othman said it was probably due to a healthy lifestyle.

"I lead a healthy ordinary life such as drinking plenty of water and consuming nutritious food. I love cow's milk which is my main source of calcium," he added.
