PASIR GUDANG - The Education Ministry will be investigating a viral video that depicts a male secondary school student 'proposing' to a girl at an unidentified school.

Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan said on Tuesday that the Ministry was still in the midst of identifying the school where the incident took place.

"I have not seen the video myself nor am I looking forward to watching it, but it has come to my attention as some have highlighted the issue.

"We will be investigating the matter to find out where and when it took place," he said after visiting SPM candidates sitting for their English examination in SMK Pasir Gudang 3 here.

The 15-second video showing two secondary students clad in their school uniforms has garnered thousands of shares and comments on Facebook.

In the video, the girl was seen running towards the boy, who was holding a red-coloured box on bended knee in a field.

They embraced each other and the boy was seen giving the girl a kiss on her cheek.

The duo's schoolmates could be heard cheering them on.

It is unclear what the nature of the proposal was.
