Malaysia's Pamg Pandelela Rinong competes in the women's 10m platform final during the diving event at the London 2012 Olympic Games on August 9, 2012 in London.

KUALA LUMPUR - National diver and Olympic bronze medallist Pandelela Rinong met with an accident after losing control of her car, which landed in a drain along Jalan Mahameru early yesterday morning.

However, she escaped without injury, said traffic police.

Kuala Lumpur Staff Officer for Traffic Investigation and Regulation Deputy Supt Markandan Subramaniam said Pandelela was travelling alone towards Bukit Jalil from the city centre when she was forced to avoid a car that switched into her lane.

Pandelela lost control of her white Chevrolet Sonic, which then slammed into a metal road divider along the road.

"The impact caused her to swerve left, causing part of the car to land into a drain by the side of the road," DSP Markandan said.
