Malaysian PMO staff surprise PM Najib on his 62nd birthday

PETALING JAYA - It was just ano­ther day at the office for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on his 62nd birthday yesterday.

Najib started his day with a surprise birthday wish from his staff at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) who arranged two simple cakes to mark the occasion.

A photograph of the gathering was later posted on Twitter by the PMO with a birthday wish.

Najib later tweeted: "I am surprised with the cakes at the office. Thank you for the birthday wishes."

A PMO staff member said no special event was scheduled to mark Najib's birthday.

Netizens took the opportunity to extend their well wishes to Najib via Twitter.

Among them were S. Thiba who tweeted: "Happy birthday to our PM YAB DS Najib Razak. May GOD bless you sir with good health."

Anson Tai extended his wishes and hoped that Najib remained "steadfast in facing the challenges and trial".

Azrin Dato' Azizan had a simple wish but included a photograph of a T-shirt with the words "Najib My PM".

Also taking the opportunity to wish Najib were Cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, in his Twitter account @shaberyc, at 7.20am tweeted: "Happy Birthday Datuk Seri Najib! Hope patience and sincerity be the strength in discharging your duties and responsibilities."

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein tweeted: "Happy Birthday PM '@FriendsofBN1:' Nobody can split the unity among the races in Malaysia."

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri wrote, "Happy Birthday PM. May Allah bless you with strength and great wisdom to lead the nation."

Similar tweets were also posted by Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching and Ledang Member of Parliament Datuk Hamim Samuri.
