Malaysian police deny demolition of Batu Caves, fake statement investigated

PETALING JAYA - The police will investigate a fake press release being circulated on the demolition of Batu Caves purportedly approved by the government.

The statement bearing the PDRM letterhead claimed that the public is prohibited from entering the site from May 2.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar tweeted on Wednesday that stern action would be taken against the culprits for disseminating false information.

He tweeted: @PDRMsia menafikan pernah mengeluarkan kenyataan di bawah. Pemalsuan dan penyebaran berita ini akan disiasat. (@PDRMsia deny issuing the statement below. Fabrication and dissemination of the information will be investigated).

Khalid also attached a screengrab of the fake statement.
