Malaysian police looking for man over semi-nude pix

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are looking for the "boyfriend" of a woman, 20, who was allegedly blackmailed into paying RM65,000 (S$24,000) for semi-nude pictures he had taken of her.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Mohd Roy Suhaimi Sarif said the couple met in March through the social messaging application WeChat.

On April 21, the man, 21, went to the woman's home in Setapak Jaya.

"The victim was alone at home as her mother, who was a tour guide, was overseas," said Supt Mohd Roy.

The man apparently used a metal baton he brought along to threaten the woman to remove her clothes and took the semi-nude pictures of her.

"The scared victim complied," said Supt Mohd Roy.

"The man then asked the victim for RM30,000 or he would post her pictures on the Internet," he told reporters at the district police headquarters yesterday. The victim accompanied the man to a nearby bank to withdraw the money.

"The next day, he demanded another RM35,000 and even threatened to kill the victim if she did not take down a Facebook post about the matter," Supt Mohd Roy added.

The victim lodged a police report on April 28 upon her mother's return. Supt Mohd Roy said police were looking for Kong Hou Woon whose last known address is Simpang Renggam, Johor, to assist in investigations.
