Malaysian teen groom: Age is not a factor in marriage

MALAYSIA - A 15-year-old boy who married a 16-year-old girl in Miri has vowed to be a good husband and father, reported Harian Metro.

Muhammad Haikal Farith Mohd Shah said his age was not a factor in determining whether he could bear the responsibility of being a husband and head of a household.

"Even though I am young, I will work hard at becoming the best husband and ensure that this marriage will last for the rest of my life.

"Some may not agree but we will prove that age is not a guarantee of happiness," said the teenager, who gave a dowry of RM200 and wedding gifts worth RM5,000.

Muhammad Haikal said his father had asked for permission from the Syariah court for him to marry Nur Hazwani Mohd Kamal in view of their age.
