MALAYSIA - A soldier attacked his wife with a parang before fleeing with their three-year-old daughter in Kuala Selangor, Harian Metro reported.
The suspect also allegedly punched his 56-year-old mother-in-law and slashed her index finger in the assault at 2.30pm on Saturday.
Devi (not her real name) said another man, who had come to her mother's house with her husband and a woman, pointed what looked like a pistol at neighbours who tried to intervene.
Devi, 30, said she had gone to stay with her mother last week because her husband often abused her and locked her in the house.
Devi, who received 14 stitches to her right palm, said her husband had climbed over a gate and forced his way into her mother's house.
"My mother tried to shut the door to stop him but he punched her and slashed her hand," said Devi, adding that she tried to run away but her husband caught her.
She claimed she had lodged 20 police reports against him since their marriage in December 2009.
Police picked up the suspect in Wangsa Maju.
