PORT DICKSON - A 35-year-old man has been charged at the magistrate's court here with murdering his nine-year-old daughter.
The accused, Mohammad Abdullah Mohamed, allegedly caused Nur Aina Nabihah's death at their home in Taman Vista Jaya in Lukut near here between 8.30pm and 11.30pm on Jan 31.
No plea was recorded from the suspect, who is a sergeant in the armed forces.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
Magistrate Siti Khairiah Abd Razak then fixed March 15 for re-mention.
Police detained the suspect and the victim's stepmother on Feb 1 after a post-mortem conducted on Nur Aina Nabihah showed serious injuries caused by a blunt object.
The victim exhibited various injuries including a punctured intestine, damaged liver and broken ribs.
The father had apparently found her unconscious at their Taman Vista Jaya home in Lukut around 11.30pm on Jan 31.
He then performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the victim but she did not regain consciousness.
He rushed her to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban but she was pronounced dead an hour later.
The victim's 34-year-old stepmother has since been released on bail.
Police had questioned the father in June last year after the victim's biological mother lodged a report after finding swellings on her body.
Police referred the case to the deputy public prosecutor but no further action was taken.
