Man killed after car skids off road in Johor

JOHOR BARU - A 25-year-old self-employed man died on the spot when he lost control of his car and hit a tree at KM2.5 Jalan Kuala Sedili-Mawai, near Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Selangi.

He was among three who were killed in three separate cases in the past 24 hours.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Rahmat Othman said the incident happened at around 9.25am yesterday when the car driven by A. Vinut, from Mawai and heading towards Kuala Sedili, went out of control.

"The victim died at the scene while a female passenger was injured.

"She has been sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital for treatment.

"Initial investigations showed that during the incident, there was a drizzle and that the car skidded," Supt Rahmat said.

In another accident, a 64-year-old woman was killed when her motorcycle crashed into a lorry.

How Moi Hua was run over by the lorry while exiting a junction at KM112.5 of Jalan Yong Peng-Labis here on Monday.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Din Ahmad said How was killed at about noon after she lost control of her motorcycle at the junction here when she hit the side of the lorry before being run over yesterday.

In the third incident, a 20-year-old student was killed when his motorcycle and a car collided at KM41 of Jalan Johor Baru-Mersing at 5pm yesterday.

Supt Rahmat said the student, identified as Shazmie Khalid from Taman Putri Lindungan Bintang, Ipoh, died on the spot.

"Initial investigations showed that it was raining heavily during the incident.

"Shazmie tried to overtake a vehicle but crashed into a car coming in the opposite direction," Supt Rahmat said.
