Man poses as council officer to rob people in Ipoh

A man has been masquerading as a council officer to rob people in Manjoi, Ipoh, reported Sinar Harian.

Safiah Husin, 66, said the man robbed her of three gold chains worth RM5,000 (S$1900) after pretending to inspect her yard on Thursday.

She said she found the man taking photographs of her drain with his mobile phone.

"He told me that he would fine me RM500 for leaving two black plastic bags behind the house. But they weren't rubbish," she said.

As she questioned the fine, the man suddenly pushed her, grabbed the chains she was wearing and fled on a motorcycle.

Ipoh City Council secretary Mohd Zakuan Zakaria said it would work with the authorities to solve the case.
