KUALA LUMPUR - Two Malaysian lovers flying to South Africa for holiday recently, there was more than love in the air.
There were flowers, a heart-shaped cake, a ring - and a surprise proposal on board their Emirates flight.
As the aircraft was cruising at 35,000 feet (10,700m) above sea level, the man, who wishes to be known only for his surname Toh, popped the question to his stunned girlfriend Heng.
Before she could recover from the shock, a fellow passenger had loudly chimed in: "Say yes ... you don't have a choice!"
The minute Heng said "yes", her beau of three years went down on bended knee to slip the ring onto her finger, setting off a round of cheers and congratulations in the cabin.
It had taken Toh almost two months to plan the memorable occasion with the Emirates staff. The meticulous arrangements included logistics, timing, ordering of flowers and a cake specially made by chefs of the in-flight catering service.
An announcement was later made on board Flight EK763 to celebrate the couple's happiness.
Toh and Heng, who were from Kuala Lumpur, were en route to Johannesburg from Dubai for a holiday.
Needless to say, the duo were in seventh heaven!
