A primary school teacher was shocked to see a vulture in his home compound in Parit Keroma, near Muar, Harian Metro reported.
Remy Azman Abdul Rashid, 40, first thought it was a wild dog that had strayed into his compound and tried to shoo it away. However, he was stunned to see the creature flying away.
"On watching it closely, I realised it was a vulture, which is a rare sight. My family and I tried to capture it but it turned aggressive," said Remy, relating the 1.15pm incident on Wednesday.
Not wanting any untoward incident to happen, he alerted the Civil Defence Department.
The department's Muar operations head Mohd Fadli Mohd Juki said his officers took about 10 minutes to catch the bird, which was perched on a tree behind the house.
