KUALA LUMPUR - An unemployed man was slashed to death shortly after he was involved in a motorcycle accident in Sri Kota, Brickfields here.
The deceased apparently hit a lamppost and fell off his motorcycle in the 5.45am accident.
Dang Wangi police chief Asst Comm Sharul Osman Mansor said an eyewitness tried to help the victim but was stopped by three men who arrived on two motorcycles several minutes later.
"He was told to leave and then they started slashing the victim repeatedly.
"According to the eyewitness, he also saw a parang in the victim's motorcycle's basket," he said.
ACP Sharul said police were also in the process of determining the motive behind the attack.
The victim suffered slashes to the head, face and both his hands.
He succumbed to his injuries while on the way to the hospital.
Police have classified the case murder but have ruled out gang involvement.
