MCA youth hands resignation forms to DAP over hudud issue

KUALA LUMPUR - MCA Youth has handed over 141 resignation forms to DAP in a move to urge the party's representatives to quit after failing to stop PAS' hudud from being tabled in the Kelantan state assembly.

MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon led a group of 30 members to the DAP headquarters in Jalan Yew here holding banners in Chinese that read "Resign immediately" and "betraying the Chinese".

Chong said the 141 resignation forms were meant for the 104 DAP state assemblymen and 37 DAP members of Parliament.

"DAP needs to apologise to all Malaysians because they have failed to protect the Federal Constitution," he said before entering the DAP office.

DAP headquarters administration department head Chu Yoon Ming received the forms on behalf of the party.

He declined to comment on the matter.

The amendments to Kelantan's Syariah Criminal Code 1993 were passed by the State Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

The vote was passed unanimously by 44 assemblymen comprising 31 from PAS, 12 from Umno and one from PKR.

Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said that PAS aims to table the two Private Member's Bills needed to enforce hudud in Kelantan during May's parliamentary sitting.
