MH17: Cops investigate incident at funeral parlour

PETALING JAYA - Police have started their investigations into the incident at Nirvana Memorial Centre where a pressman was allegedly assaulted by a family member of MH17 victims.

City police criminal investigation department chief Senior Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the suspect in the case has been identified.

"He will appear to give his statement soon.

"The pressman's statement has also been recorded," he said.

SAC Gan urged witnesses to come forward to facilitate the investigations.

On Tuesday, a scuffle between a family member of Subashni J. Retnam and an English daily photographer ensued at the funeral parlour.

It was reported that several family members were riled up with the presence of the media as the funeral was supposed to be a private affair.

Subashni, popularly known by her stage name Shuba Jaya, was a television and theatre actress. Her husband, Paul Goes, was employed by a Dutch-based company in the capital.

The couple had been returning to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam, where they had taken their daughter, Kaela Maya Jay, to visit her grandparents, when their plane was shot down.
