MH370 crash: Ex-schoolmate speaks fondly of victim

PETALING JAYA - Claims consultant Iun Thong Meng recalled that former schoolmate and colleague Sim Keng Wei was a cheerful, friendly and generous person.

Iun, 53, said they went to the Kuching High School from 1974 to 1979 and used to have picnics and outings together with other friends.

"I was shocked to hear from another former classmate that he was on Flight MH370," he said.

Iun said he and Sim used to be colleagues working in a loss adjuster company before they both set up their own businesses.

"I last saw Sim when he came to my office one-and-a-half years ago, but we had been keeping in touch through phone calls," he said.

He said Sim had set up three kindergartens in Nanjing, China, but was not sure why he was going to Beijing on March 8.

Iun said they were supposed to meet during the recent Chinese New Year, but their dates did not match.

"I will certainly miss him," he said.

Iun said he would meet his other former classmates to visit Sim's family if possible.
