MH370: PM Lee's sympathies to China, Malaysia

THE HAGUE, Netherlands - Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has expressed his deepest sympathies to the leaders of two countries affected by the tragic crash of MH370.
"Besides writing to PM Najib (Razak) because we've been here at the meeting, DPM Muhyiddin (Yassin) was here and also President Xi Jinping from China. So yesterday (Tuesday)... I spoke to them both and expressed my sympathies and condolences to them and through them to the families and to their people," he told reporters on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit.
He added that as he wrote to Datuk Seri Najib, it has been a very difficult situation for all.
"It's been a very trying and wrenching two weeks-plus for the families and loved ones of all those on the plane. I think it's a good development that there's more certainty, more information now which gives some closure.
"I understand that some of the relatives are still not satisfied because you don't have physical evidence; they just have inferences from the information from the satellite communications, from the calculations that have been done. And I hope that it will be possible to find that physical evidence and have that certainty and absolute confidence and closure within a reasonable time," Mr Lee said.
"But it's something very difficult to do because you are searching a very remote area, very extreme conditions, very wide area now where the debris is potentially scattered, and to find it and to confirm it, it's not a simple matter at all. So we hope that it will be possible. I think the countries are all trying their best," he added.
