'Millionaire' from China moves in on Penang

GEORGE TOWN - A self-made millionaire from China apparently extended his Yun Shu Mao business empire to Penang about one month ago.

A check by The Star found that the outlet in Jalan Tavoy is manned by a young Thai national who speaks Mandarin.

According to the worker, they have managed to recruit quite a substantial number of members since the operation started. He said they also had similar outlets in Kedah, Johor, Klang Valley and Haadyai, Thailand.

However, he himself has not met the Chinese national who claims to be "the future richest man in the world" and China's youngest self-made millionaire.

"We are perceived as a multi-level marketing company but in actual fact, we are not. That's very misleading.

"Those who join us as members are entitled to a special rate for our products," he said.

The man, however, said he was not well-versed in the company's business scheme, and subsequently passed two contact numbers to The Star's reporter.

Among the products on display at the swankily-furnished outlet were power banks, kitchenware, laptops, luggage bags, rice cookers, shampoo, bird's nest and umbrellas.

Some of the products had Zhang Jian's face on them.

Attempts to study the company's websites www.yslm.hk proved futile as it could only be accessed by members.
