KAMPAR - Rescuers have found the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) lecturer and her two students who went missing while trekking up Gunung Bujang Melaka in Kampung Batu Berangkai.

Efforts to bring them are underway.

Earlier report: Police and volunteers have intensified the search for the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) lecturer and her two students who went missing while trekking up Gunung Bujang Melaka in Kampung Batu Berangkai here yesterday. The operation, which was stopped at 4.30am today after a downpour, has since resumed.

A new team of rescuers ascended the hill about 7.50am in search of the three.

This morning, the search and rescue operation will comb the remaining part of the thick forested hill which they did not check yesterday.

Helicopters and the Senoi Praaq unit have been roped in to assist in the search and rescue operation.

Meanwhile, the foothill was a hive of activities as residents and the public constantly enquiring about the situation of the three.

It was reported that lecturer Tang Ying Ying, 30, and students Yap Suan Zi, 21, and Goh Kae Min, 22, had hiked up at 6am yesterday for an academic exercise.

Some 12 hours later, one of the students had sent a text message to a friend, informing that they lost their way while descending, and were unsure of their position.

An integrated search and rescue operation was immediately put in place.
