KUALA LUMPUR - Persana Avril Sollunda, the Sabahan part-time model accused of stripping in public, has been ordered to undergo a month-long psychiatric evaluation.
Magistrate Nur A'minahtul Mardiah Md Nor ordered that she be warded at Hospital Bahagia in Perak for observation and psychiatric treatment.
If Sollunda failed to turn up at the hospital by the end of the day, her bail would be forfeited and a warrant for her arrest issued, Nur A'minahtul Mardiah said yesterday.
Sollunda's brother Peter said last night that both of them were waiting for a train to Ipoh to meet the court's deadline.
The psychiatric report on her will be produced when the case is mentioned on July 2.
Sollunda was a no-show at the Jalan Duta court when her case came up for mention yesterday morning.
Nur A'minahtul Mardiah then ordered that she be produced in court by noon.
Sollunda's lawyer Muhammad Nor Izzat Nordin explained that his client was unwell.
He showed a letter from doctors at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, where Sollunda has been receiving psychiatric treatment since May 5.
He said she was discharged temporarily from the hospital on Thursday and was staying at her brother's house in Kota Damansara.
Nur A'minahtul Mardiah said Sollunda could not absent herself without leave of the court and that she had failed to produce a medical certificate.
The 32-year-old Sabahan was released from Kajang Prison after a RM7,000 bail was posted by family members on May 5.
On the same day, she was taken by relatives to Sungai Buloh Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
She pleaded not guilty in a magistrate's court on April 28 to the charge of committing an obscene act in public.
If convicted, she could be jailed for up to three months or fined or both.
