Motorcyclist killed after colliding with crashed lorry

KAJANG - A lorry carrying cartons of eggs rammed into a road divider after one of its tyres came off along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban High-way.

A motorcyclist following behind was killed when he could not brake in time and collided with the crashed vehicle.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rashid Abdul Wahab said the driver, who was sending the eggs to a warehouse in Kuala Lumpur, lost control of the lorry when a back tyre suddenly came off.

The vehicle spun for about 20m before crashing into the divider.

"The motorcyclist, Tengku Fazirul Azeem Tengku Badli Shah, was in the same lane and could not stop in time.

"He hit the back of the lorry and was killed on the spot," ACP Abdul Rashid said.

The body of the 22-year-old rider was sent to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.

The lorry driver was hospitalised there.

The accident caused the cargo of eggs to break and left the crash site - which is just after the Seremban R&R stop and before the Bangi exit - covered with egg whites and yolk.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(a) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving.
