Motorists in Klang are seeing red over alleged RM1,000 (S$374) compound fines issued by the municipal council for illegal parking, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Several of them who spoke to the daily said some roads in Klang had become hotspots for towing action against illegally parked cars.
Resident V. Gopalakrishnan said drivers would not double-park illegally by the roadside if there were enough parking spaces.
He said many parked by the roadside to run quick errands, such as going to the bank.
He said many parking facilities were privately owned and the rates were exorbitant and added that rather than punish errant motorists, more parking facilities at reasonable rates should be made available.
