M'sian student killed in Shanghai stampede laid to rest

SHAH ALAM - The remains of 20-year-old Tan Wei was buried at the Nirvana Memorial Park here on Wednesday.

The Hangzhou University undergraduate died in a stampede in Shanghai on New Year's Eve.

Earlier in the day, prayers were conducted for Wei at the Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom where her remains had been kept since its arrival from China on Monday.

Wei's father Jenjarom Village headman Tan Chin Hin and her mother Lee Siew Yen as well as family and friends accompanied her remains to the memorial park.

Wei was among the 37 people killed in the freak accident in Shanghai.
