Murdered Estonian model’s family awaiting case closure
Sad farewell: Soosalu's funeral is expected to be held later this week or next week.

JOHOR BARU - It has been more than two months and the family of Estonian freelance model Regina Soosalu has been patiently waiting for any kind of news pertaining to her death.

Estonian honorary consul to Malaysia Col Datuk Harbans Singh said that the family fully understood the due process of investigations but were hoping that there would be some sort of conclusion to the sad incident.

"They have overcome the first stage and have paid their respects after her body was transported back to Estonia for a funeral.

"Now they want to find out what happened to Regina and hope justice will be served," he said when contacted.

Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Hasnan Hassan said that the investigation papers have been forwarded to the prosecution unit for further action.

It was reported that Soosalu's body was discovered at Pulau Rawa off Mersing here on July 1.

Police initially believed that the 23-year-old had drowned but later investigated the case as a possible murder after discovering suspicious wounds on her body.
