KLANG: The case of the missing artisan in a fire which engulfed a jewellery shop here is continuing to baffle the authorities.
Both police and the Fire and Rescue Department have not found the artisan known as Rajesh, 28.
Sources linked to the owners of S.O. Arjuna Jewellers claimed that Rajesh was seen rushing into the shop to retrieve jewellery that he had been working on during the fire on Feb 11.
However, he was not seen coming out from the shop, they said.
"Everyone is worried about him," said the source.
The sources also said that no gold item had gone missing from the shop.
The shop is believed to have been razed after a gas cylinder, which was used to power equipment to shape gold into jewellery, exploded.
A 44-year-old worker known as Subramani died in the early morning blaze.
South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Kamarul Zaman Mamat said police were still investigating the matter.
"We have no information now," said ACP Kamarul Zaman.
Subramani and Rajesh were among six employees who were asleep on the top floor of the premises when the fire broke out.
In an unrelated incident, moviegoers at a cineplex ran for cover when a fight broke out between two groups of Indonesians on Friday night.
The fight took place at a karaoke centre located in the mall and left one man slashed near the cineplex entrance.
North Klang OCPD ACP Mohd Shukor Sulong said a parang-wielding man had attacked one of the groups.
"Three of them managed to flee. Another man was slashed in the attack," he said.
"The 31-year-old man, who suffered internal bleeding and deep slash wounds to the face and head, is in critical condition at the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah.
"Neither the suspect nor the victim's friends have been identified," he said, adding that the incident was captured by CCTV cameras at the mall.
