PETALING JAYA - The two giant pandas in Zoo Negara welcomed a very special guest to their enclosure - Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The Prime Minister dropped by yesterday to pay a visit to Fu Wa and Feng Yi.
He later tweeted a photo taken during the visit: "Visited Feng Yi & Fu Wa today. They are here for 10 years to mark the 40th anniversary of our diplomatic ties with China."
The other VIP visitor was Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who confessed that he was "in love" with Feng Yi and Fu Wa.
Posting three photos of the visit on his Twitter account, Hishammuddin said: "The animals are so cute. I am in love."
He also posted a selfie taken with his wife Tengku Marsilla Tengku Abdullah with Fu Wa, the male panda, in the background.
The two giant pandas, housed in the zoo since Wednesday, are on loan to Malaysia for 10 years to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China.
Fu Wa and Feng Yi will be quarantined for a month at the Giant Panda Conservation and Exhibition Centre at the zoo before being displayed to the public.
The 1.6ha panda complex has steep terrain, wooden playgrounds and ice blocks that mimic their natural environment.
The pandas' new Malaysian names are set to be announced by Najib during the grand opening of the enclosure at the end of June.
