KOTA KINABALU: A Sabah minister has paid tribute to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak whom he said had brought many changes to Sabah since he took office.

Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said Najib listens to the people and that is why Sabah is seeing more development.

Speaking in his constituency of Kota Belud during the ground-breaking ceremony for the People's Housing Project, Abdul Rahman said Najib also visited Sabah often, compared to other prime ministers in the past.

He said Najib also appreciated and acknowledged the capabilities of Sabah leaders by appointing six ministers and four deputy ministers from the state.

"This is the first time there are many Sabah leaders being tasked with important jobs," he added.

Apart from that, he said the Prime Minister set up the Eastern Sabah Security Command, initiated the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Sabah's illegal immigrant issues, and even became a moderator for the peace talks in the southern Philippines.

"Did any of the past leaders do this for Sabah?" Abdul Rahman asked.

Abdul Rahman explained that he was not bringing anyone down but was just stating the facts.

Furthermore, he said there were more economic-based projects initiated in Sabah since Najib became the Prime Minister.

"He comes to Sabah and thus the SAMUR and SOGT natural resources, oil and gas projects were created," he said.

Abdul Rahman said the Prime Minister also approved the Pan Borneo project - a road network on Borneo Island connecting Sabah and Sarawak with Brunei and introduced BR1M, the special fund for the poor.

"Yet people are still unhappy and criticise the Government non-stop," he said.
