KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has hit out at certain quarters trying to create an impression that the Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar refused to shake hands with him at an event recently.
"I could only shake my head when I saw it on social media," he said.
"The Johor Ruler was waiting for me and we had tea at the palace. His Royal Highness even drove me in his car. I sat next to him and we chatted.
"However, they still want to spread unverified and fake stories on social media," he said on Monday at the launch of Kami Anak Felda, Buku Kesejahteraan Adiwangsa Felda, Wada-Cambodia Humanitarian Fund, and Reaching Out to Your Heart programme.
It was reported that a video captioned, "Sultan Johor langsung tak salam Najib semasa ketibaan Tuanku ke upacara Majlis Perasmian Forest City 2016... kenapa?? (Sultan of Johor refuses to shake hands with Najib when Tuanku arrives at the Forest City 2016 launching ceremony... why??), went viral on social media.
Najib also stressed the importance of supporting the current Government, which had always championed the interest of Felda settlers.
"Do you think those who signed the citizens' declaration will protect you? We are the ones that had given priority and we will continue with our struggles to help the settlers," he said.
