Najib: Malaysians must have mutual respect for each other

SHAH ALAM - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak joined MIC leaders and several thousand people to observe the National Day Ponggal celebrations here on Wednesday.

His wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was also at the event .

In his speech Najib said the Indian community's contribution towards nation building could not be denied.

He also reminded all Malaysians to have mutual respect for each other in order to inculcate unity.

"As a government we must be inclusive and fair stand in implementing policies," he said.

He also urged the MIC to strengthen its ties with the people.

Meanwhile, MIC president Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam said in his speech that the MIC will strive to serve the Indian community to help them achive their aspirations.

He also chided former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for congregating with Barisan Nasional's political enemies in efforts to topple Najib.
