KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has instructed the relevant agencies to channel aid to the people affected by floods in Sarawak immediately.
In posts on Facebook and Twitter, he said he had been monitoring the situation over the past three days.
"I have deployed the channelling of aid to the needy," he posted. "I will continue to monitor the situation."
The floods in Sarawak, particularly in the Kuching, Samarahan, Mukah and Limbang divisions, have reportedly worsened.
The number of evacuees rose to 3,458 as of yesterday afternoon - from 3,201 in the morning. Incessant rain over the past few days was a contributing factor.
