KUALA LUMPUR - Hundreds of media personnel put down their pens and notebooks to dine with ministers in a special media appreciation night organised by the Government. Held at Dewan Perdana Felda here, they interacted with the politicians freely.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who arrived after 8.30pm, said: "I am very happy to be here with those from the media."
He told the 500-member crowd that he acknowledged those from the print and electronic media and even those whom he called "friendly bloggers".
"Not sure how you define friendly bloggers," he quipped.
Najib said the role of the media was important as reporters were responsible for shaping the people's minds and helping them to understand the reasons behind every decision made by the Government, the authorities and captains of the business world.
Hundreds of prizes were up for grabs via a lucky draw at the dinner, including a Peugeot 408 car grand prize.
