SAN FRANCISCO - The more than 1.7 million Twitter followers of the Prime Minister will get tweets from him from the headquarters of the online social networking and micro-blogging service here on Tuesday (Monday morning, California time).
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is making his first visit to the Silicon Valley here, home to many of the world's major technology corporations as well as thousands of small startups.
Officials said the company officials had expressed surprise that Najib is active in twittering, being one of only a few leaders active in it.
"Foreign CEOs are impressed with his knowledge of technology and future trends and noted that the Prime Minister is a sharp man.
"This visit is to give him 'the Silicon Valley experience' rather than just conducting meetings.
"It is also an effort to give a further boost to Malaysia's digital transformation programme," said an official.
Najib has a hectic schedule here before he leaves for New York on Sept 25 for a five-day visit.
On Tuesday (Wednesday in Malaysia), Najib will visit the Google headquarters where he will get a first hand look at the workings of the eminent search engine and hold discussions on Google's future trends.
He will be taken around in the company's driverless car, one of the few leaders to get the experience at Google's office.
Eight Malaysians working with Google will also get a chance to meet the Prime Minister.
