MANILA - While the leaders are busy attending the 23rd ASEAN Summit and related summits in Kuala Lumpur this weekend, their spouses will also be occupied with their own set of activities.
Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, has lined up three programmes combining culture, traditional food and business opportunities for seven spouses, including wives of Chinese and Japanese prime ministers and the United Nations secretary-general.
The first programme, "ASEAN Food Fiesta" with its theme "Rice that binds us", will celebrate and introduce the traditional food of nations which are rice-based.
The fiesta will include cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs on five different dishes based on rice, she told the media here.
Rosmah said the second programme would be a forum on the voice of ASEAN women, where four women entrepreneurs from the region would share their success stories.
The third programme will be cultural performances by ASEAN member nations, to be held simultaneously at popular locations in Kuala Lumpur such as the Pavilion mall and Central Market over the weekend.
Rosmah hoped the programmes lined up would also be experienced by the public as well.
"We want to include Malaysians and tourists in the summit this time, not just delegates," she said.
