KUALA LUMPUR - A sales manager cheated death when a micro piler fell on his car while he was driving past an MRT station that was under construction along Jalan Cheras.
Elvis Eng, 32, said he was on his way to a shopping mall when the incident occurred at about 3pm yesterday.
"Despite jamming on the brakes, the machinery hit the front portion of my Toyota Harrier, causing it to stall.
"I could have been killed if it had landed on my car roof," he said.Eng said he alighted and spoke to the construction site supervisor and safety manager and both took full responsibility for the mishap.
"This should not have happened. Safety standards need to be higher at these construction sites which are adjacent to busy roads.
"My damaged car is affecting my business," he said, adding that a report was lodged at the Tun H.S. Lee traffic police station.
Eng urged the companies involved in the construction of the MRT project to prioritise safety and prevent a recurrence.
