Nearly 1,000 'trash SMSes' sent to MB's phone daily

SEPANG - Azmin Ali has been receiving nearly 1,000 text messages a day on trash after inviting the public to inform him directly on uncollected rubbish in Selangor.

However, instead of being surprised, the Selangor Mentri Besar said he was expecting more text messages on the subject.

"This is what the public want from us... to collect the rubbish."

"They are not asking for projects (tender). They just want clean housing areas," he said when addressing the Sepang district government agencies' monthly assembly at Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi here yesterday."

Azmin made public his personal cell phone number through Twitter on Wednesday bearing these words: "Kalau anda nampak ada sampah belum kutip, anda text saya. Ini nombor saya, 012-2052020. Saya mahu Selangor Bersih! (If you see uncollected rubbish, text me. My number is 012-2052020. I want a clean Selangor!)."

Azmin said he had forwarded the complaints and SMSes to the respective local authorities.

"This is a continuous effort as we want to ensure that for the next three months, they would put in extra effort to ensure the cleanliness of our districts and housing areas."
