PETALING JAYA - Negaraku will resonate again in cinemas nationwide on Sept 16, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
"We have decided to play it only on Sept 16 (to commemorate the 50th Malaysia Day)," he said yesterday.
Early this week, he had said that the ministry was obtaining public feedback and mulling over the possibility of extending the week-long campaign to play the national anthem in cinemas in conjunction with the 56th Merdeka Day celebrations beyond Sept 3.
Cinemas had aired the national anthem between Aug 27 and Sept 3 in support of the ministry's campaign to promote patrio-tism.
It was also to honour fallen national heroes including those who perished during the Lahad Datu intrusion six months ago.
The participating cinemas included GSC, MBO Cinemas, TGV Cinemas, Lotus Five Star and Cathay Cineplex and the ministry said the campaign had generated positive response from the majority of moviegoers.
