PETALING JAYA, Malaysia - Netizens seem to be rallying behind Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim after his unceremonious sacking from PKR.
There is a barrage of supportive messages for him on Facebook.
"It was brutal the way PKR hounded and cornered Khalid Ibrahim. People in PKR who have the sense and sensibility probably have enough conscience and courage to leave the party after what happened," said Napsiah Wan Salleh.
"Khalid, I support you," one Adeline Yong posted.
Azie Surip said: "You have us, the rakyat, to support you Mr MB."
"I'm beginning to like this Khalid more and more," said Clare Rain.
Panglima Leo wrote: "He performed well and ran the state like a company. But never underestimate his political acumen.
"Personally, he had shaken Pakatan Rakyat and PKR is looking like a headless chicken without a clear direction. Respect for him. Most people underestimate his capabilities. Salute MB Khalid."
Hetish Sharma said: "Tan Sri, do not fall easily. Give them a good fight till the end."
"You are a great leader. We always support you," Krisnah Rao posted.
However, Khalid is not without his critics.
Other Netizens disagreed with his insistence on holding on to the mentri besar's post.
"If he is so keen on remaining as MB, let him be there until September or find an island in the Pacific and proclaim him MB for life," said Mohamed Salleh Abdul Hamid.
"Get rid of him fast by whatever means," said Teoh Thiam Cheng.
Kenny Teoh said: "As much as I appreciate what TSKI has done for Selangor, what he's doing now is just unreasonable … like a mad man on a vengeful rampage. No worries, everything will be back to normal after the next state election."
Sam Foo concurred, saying: "There is an agenda here otherwise if majority ask you to leave, go with an open heart with dignity, not sacked by your party."
On Saturday, Khalid who has been mentri besar since March 2008, was expelled from the party by the PKR's disciplinary committee.
