JOHOR BARU - Hearing the incesssant cries of a baby at around 10.30pm on Thursday, a man went to the back of his house and was shocked to find a newborn baby wrapped in a cream-coloured cloth in a cardboard box.
Johor Baru (North) OCPD Asst Comm Ruslan Hassan said the man took the baby boy, with its umbilical cord still intact, back to his home and reported to the police at around 2am yesterday.
He said the infant was found behind some houses in Jalan Panglin 1 in Taman Perling.
ACP Ruslan said the baby was now in the care of the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here, which had also informed the welfare department.
"We believe the baby was delivered shortly before he was found as there were bloodstains on the baby's head," he said, adding that the little boy was healthy and had no bruises on his body.
He added that the case was being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for baby dumping.
