SELANGOR - A 40-year-old man abducted and wrongfully confined his former wife for two days in Kuala Selangor before forcing her to remarry him, Harian Metro reported.
The 41-year-old victim, who wanted to be known only as Sara, and her former husband, who is based in Australia, were divorced almost a year ago.
Sara said she was at work in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, when he came and asked her out. When she declined, he pulled out a knife and forced her into his car.
"He threatened to kill me if I didn't follow him. He took me to a hotel in Kuala Selangor and kept me there," she said, adding that he hit her and threatened to kill her and her family if she tried to escape.
"The next day, he persuaded me to remarry him before taking me to a temple for the ceremony. But when we arrived, I told him 'no'," she said.
The man then sent Sara to her sister's house in Seremban after he was advised by a monk at the temple.
Before leaving, the man told Sara that he had hired people to keep an eye on her and told her to keep the incident a secret.
"He said he would arrange for our marriage ceremony again," she said.
Sara, however, lodged a report at the Travers police station.
