JOHOR BARU - Police have rubbished talk of a cover-up involving the royalty-linked murder case of Estonian model Regina Soosalu.
Bukit Aman CID chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh said the claims were unfounded, stressing that police investigations had always been transparent.
"Such allegations are total rubbish, as the department would not cover up (for) those who are involved in crime," he told a press conference here yesterday.
Comm Mohmad declined to comment on the current status of the case.
The murder allegedly took place at Pulau Rawa off Mersing on July 1.
It was reported that Soosalu, who was on a short vacation with her boyfriend, said to be a member of the Johor royal household, was initially thought to have drowned.
Police later classified the case as murder after discovering suspicious wounds on the body.
Seven suspects were detained in connection with the case but they have since been released on police bail.
The investigation papers on the case had reportedly been forwarded to the prosecution unit for further action.
