PETALING JAYA: It is puppy love for a team of firefighters from Ampang who came to the aid of a distressed animal stranded in a 3m deep monsoon drain at Taman Kosas.
One of the men in uniform later expressed a desire to adopt the female puppy.
The team of seven firefighters had rushed to rescue the troubled canine after receiving a distress call from a member of the public at around 9.35am here yesterday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Mohd Sani Harul said the team arrived at the scene with a ladder within minutes of receiving the call.
"They acted quickly and extended the ladder into the drain for the rescue mission.
It did not take them long to bring the puppy to safety," he added.
Team leader Deputy Superintendent Ariff Mohamed Kassim said following the rescue, the canine was released into an area far from the drain.
"We were not able to trace her back to any owner as she was a stray puppy.
She was very tame although slightly drenched from the drain water," he said.
