'NS trainees' doing Harlem Shake has tongues wagging

GEORGE TOWN - A nearly four-minute video clip of a group of boys, who claim to be National Service trainees, dancing the Harlem Shake in what appears to be an NS camp in Penang is making its round on Facebook.

A few of the participants were clad only in their underwear.

The clip, uploaded on Thursday on a page titled Janji Ditepati, had since received over 650 "likes" and registered more than 700 shares.

The clip showed scenes that were allegedly shot in different locations of the camp, such as in the boys' hostel, outside their hostel as well as in the common room.

Viewers left varying comments, with most saying that the NS was boring while there were those who said they enjoyed their time in the camps.

A search on Google revealed that the clip was first uploaded on YouTube on March 19 and has over 16,000 views.

Some viewers condemned the clip. However, many also commended the boys and asked those who left negative comments to not be "too serious".

When contacted, Sri Impian camp commander Major Shamsuddin Abdul Aziz declined to confirm whether the boys were from the camp.

"I have not watched the clip," he said.
