Nude dolls of anime characters are being openly sold at various shopping complexes in Bukit Bintang, Damansara and Putrajaya, reported Harian Metro.

These dolls, which were based on popular anime characters, were much sought after by both adults and children despite having a price tag of between RM50 (S$19) and RM500 each.

An insurance company executive said he was shocked to find the dolls being sold openly at premises that also stocked Japanese comic books or manga.

"It made me wonder how these dolls could be sold so openly. Children are also exposed to these dolls. This is very worrying," he said.

According to a shopkeeper, the dolls, which were ordered online and imported from China, were very popular among men.

"Most shops have a special catalogue from which customers can choose the dolls they want," he said, adding that there were also women who bought such items.
